Main duties of the job
A dynamic department with 20+ motivated consultants supported by resident doctors. The obstetric unit is busy, dealing with high risk pregnancies with around 5000 deliveries / year. Consultant Gynaecology clinics are held at Medway Maritime, Sittingbourne and Sheppey Hospitals.

Job description Job responsibilities
There are surgical wards used for elective cases and emergency admissions. An Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic is held on weekdays in conjunction with a Gynaecology Assessment Unit. The EPAC is led by senior nurse who performs transvaginal scanning.
Regular inpatient and day case operating lists run throughout the week.
Emergency cases are booked on CEPOD list. Majority of benign gynaecology surgeries are laparoscopic. There are opportunities to advance laparoscopic skills, hysteroscopy skills and urogynaecology surgeries.
There are specialist clinics for Infertility, Colposcopy, Outpatient Hysteroscopy and Urodynamics.
The post will be based at the Medway NHS Foundation Trust Hospital, although you will be expected to work at any of the Trusts sites (Sittingbourne and Sheppey Hospital) .
The job is a combined Obstetrics and Gynaecology rota. On call are full shifts.
You will be supported by On call consultant who is resident on site 08.30 hrs 21.30 hrs andnon resident from 21.30 08.30hrs.
There is routine ward work, Consultant rounds, antenatal clinics, gynaecology outpatient clinics and operating sessions.
We have Medical students from Kings College School of Medicine, and Kent and Medway Medical School. Post holder is expected to actively participate in teaching for these medical students.
Post holder should actively participate in the different multidisciplinary meetings in the department. (CTG meetings, Audit, Perinatal, etc)
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise IELTS, or graduate of a UK Medical School (essential) MBBS (or equivalent) MRCP/MRCS or ALS
Desirable
MRCOG completion
Knowledge and Experience Essential
O & G knowledge at Registrar level Understanding of audit Minimum 2 years UK experience at registrar level (or equivalent).
Skills Essential
Computer literate for communication and audit purposes Good team working skills. Experience of active involvement in Quality Improvement measures, this can include: audit, guideline development, implementation of health policy, improved team-working, leadership etc
