Main duties of the job
The role is a crucial post in ensuring that GSTT is compliant with legal and statutory requirements and that all fire safety regulations under current codes of practice are addressed across a complex and multi-site organisations by the provision of appropriate training for the GSTT staff.
The role entails delivering face-to-face Fire Warden training to on-site staff, designing, organising and effecting Fire Evacuation Drills for a variety of units, ranging from those which cater for high dependent stakeholders to some community settings. Providing appropriate advice when required and reporting on Training Metrics to senior management.

The postholder:
Accountable and responsible for the planned delivery of a suite of fire safety training to all GSTT colleagues and external bodies requiring fire safety training.
Responsible for the development and delivery of a Fire Safety Training Strategy, including planning for delivery and implementation of the plan within the team ensuring GSTT meets both statutory and non-statutory fire safety obligations in relation to current fire safety legislation and other associated legislations/regulation.
Responsible for ensuring that fire safety training is targeted to and meets the specific needs of each service area and category of staff.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
The ability to understand, characteristics of fire and the science of fire prevention. Practices, guidance, and legislation concerning fire safety in relation to health care premises.
Desirable
Member of the Institute fire prevention officers / Member of the Institute fire Safety Managers
Knowledge Essential
Significant experience of development of Fire Safety Policies and Procedures.
Experience Essential
Significant experience in Fire Safety Training provision.
