About this role
Animal Specialty Center (ASC) is seeking compassionate and motivated Surgery Assistants to join our Surgery team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in veterinary surgery while working alongside experienced technicians, specialists, and surgeons in a fast-paced specialty environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare surgical patients for procedures including clipping and cleaning surgical sites
• Safely handle and restrain surgical patients
• Perform laboratory diagnostics and assist with imaging procedures
• Transport patients safely between wards, treatment areas, and surgical suites
• Set up and prepare surgical suites for procedures
• Maintain proper handling of sterile equipment and supplies (Ability to perform aseptic and sterile techniques)
• Provide assistance to veterinarians and veterinary technicians during procedures
• Communicate with clients as directed
• Make and present estimates to clients for diagnostics, treatments, surgery and/or hospitalization
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• Veterinary experience preferred but not required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
