Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) Teacher (1 year Placement) Reports to: Building Administrator Union: OEA PURPOSE STATEMENT The duties and responsibilities of the ALE Teacher involve instruction that directly supports the individualized written learning plan developed for the student.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Teach district approved curriculum • Develop differentiated lessons appropriate for ALE students; small group, one-on-one, or whole group. • Provide nurturing, supportive, and a positive classroom environment that encourages student responsibility. • Participate in student placement and transition conferences • Assist in developing Personalized Student Action Plans (SAP) • Maintain accurate student records • Adapt and modify instruction based on students emotional, behavioral, academic and social status. • Assist administration in implementing district policies and guidelines that govern student behavior and safety. • Maintain an orderly and safe classroom environment • Collaborate with school and district personnel to ensure student success is maximized. Collaborate on resources, goals and objectives. • Communicate with administration about classroom concerns. • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress • Partner with school counseling services and mental health providers in order to positively affect student success • Coordinate and participate in Community Truancy Board • Attend required staff and district meetings • Participate in school wide events • Complete and participate in required building and district professional development activities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. 2. Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements. 3. Ability to focus (adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more. 4. Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ______________________________________________________________________________ EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or Doctorate from an accredited university or college. EXPERIENCE:
• Appropriate academic background and coursework for the position.
• Successful teaching experience and effective work with high school age students, preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements.
• Must maintain as current any certification or license listed herein and held at hire date.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING: That which is required to be effective in the position and to maintain certification CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Starting Date: 2026-2027 School Year (182 total contracted days) Salary: $66,897 - $128,954 annual salary.
