About this role
Summary Teachers develop supportive relationships with all of their students, define clear outcomes for student learning and communicate these clearly to their students, implement a range of research-based instructional and assessment strategies as needed to ensure quality learning by all students and utilize such assessment data to inform their instruction. Regular communication with parents, peers, district personnel, and administration is essential. Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Valid and current teaching certificate for the State of Michigan.
• Strong knowledge of subject concepts and ability to teach them effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Preferred Skills:
• Skilled at designing learning environments that promote a student's ability to achieve at their highest potential.
• Experience using data to develop lesson plans and instructional groups
• Effective communication with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Outstanding computer skills, professional appearance, and regular attendance at school-sponsored events and activities.
• Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate kindergarten program for young children.
• Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the students.
• Develop weekly and monthly activity schedules.
• Plan activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.
• Be familiar with emergency procedures.
• Ensure equipment and facilities are clean, well-maintained, and safe at all times.
• Help maintain pupil morale and assist in establishing good school-community relations.
• Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities, and their child's progress.
• Participate in public-oriented activities related to his/her teaching assignment and building, such as:
• Parent-Teacher meetings and conferences
• Open House
• Public performance of children in plays, concerts, athletic activities, etc
• To be available to students before the opening of the pupils' regular school day in the morning and be available in your classroom or building after the close of the pupils' regular school day, according to the negotiated contractual agreement.
• Assist administration in the implementation of school and board policies.
• All other duties as assigned
• Keen awareness of responsibilities for confidentiality and professionalism.
• Familiarity with PBIS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Must have regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
• Manage student behavior and classroom climate to support students' focus on learning
• Provide developmentally appropriate individualized, small-group, and whole-class instruction to meet the learning needs of all students.
• Teach District-approved curriculum through both direct instruction and inquiry-based instruction
• Assess student learning through a variety of evaluation methods such as discussion, projects, performance assessments, tests, demonstrations
• Communicate frequently with parents and guardians
• Participate collaboratively with peers and administrators in planning and evaluating the instructional program
• Represent Morenci Area Schools in a positive manner in the community
• Participate in continual professional growth opportunities that are aligned with district priorities
• Demonstrate understanding of the substance of their subjects, including both facts and organizing ideas and instruction
• Performing all other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
• Articulate student learning objectives and reasons for importance, provide timely accurate feedback to students, and engage students in self-assessment
• Demonstrate understanding of diverse family and cultural backgrounds and interest in students
• Other responsibilities as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Supervises classroom, students, and volunteers
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports or professional correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, administrators and general public Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference, fractions, percentages, rations and practical applications. Physical Demands Frequently required to stand and talk or hear while sometimes walking and sitting. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 40 pounds. Frequent bending, stooping, or getting up and down from the floor are also required. Terms of Employment:
