About this role

PURPOSE OF POSITION This position serves our evening and weekend Practical Nursing program. The job of Practical Nursing Lead was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process through direct supervision of adult students within the classroom and other assigned clinical areas as well as supervising instruction of other nurse educators in the program. Duties include developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students regarding instructional program and student progress. Th Practical Nursing Lead will also review lessons, assessments, and provide feedback to other nurse educators to ensure program quality and fidelity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Administer curriculum-based nursing instruction program and assessments, etc. for the purpose of evaluating student competency levels. 2. Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, faculty, and administration. 3. Collaborate with administrators, instructional staff, other clinical personnel, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of program and student outcomes. 4. Support the Coordinator with defining, revising, and updating of admissions and graduate standards for students for the purpose of remaining current with DCIU admission policies and standards as well as clinical facility and state standards. 5. Assist in the execution and refining of advertising for the purpose of promoting the program and gain maximum exposure to maintain a student base. 6. Collect analyze and interpret data for the purpose of improving program, clinical facilities and accrediting agencies. 7. Utilize data collection to determine if clinical facilities provide high quality learning experiences and provide feedback and solutions if not substantiated. 8. Assist with facilitating teams to enhance teaching, learning, and engagement through the development and integration of educational innovations in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and personalized learning. 9. Supervise faculty and provide feedback communicating expectations; program achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing program goals. 10. Assist with developing and delivering professional development to transform instructional culture and climate in schools to enhance engagement and extend learning beyond the traditional learning framework. 11. Manage students and faculty in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classrooms, clinicals, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe, positive, and effective learning environment. Communicate with students regarding progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals. 12. Orient students and new employees for the purpose of familiarizing them with the program policies and procedures in classroom, labs and clinical areas. 13. Prepare and maintain a variety of written materials and records (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, schedules, clinical records, health requirements etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements. 14. Model conversation, manners, listening skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior. 15. Demonstrate methods required for specific classroom instruction, technological simulation, clinical assignments and skills for the purpose of providing an effective program addressing individual student and program technological requirements. 16. Lead in the formulation and implementation of program policies as well as selection and promotion of students for the purpose of maintaining program standards. 17. Assist Coordinator in graduation and promotion of students as well as assist with graduate needs postgraduation for licensure and job references. 18. Maintain necessary documentation (e.g. policies, objectives, certifications, licensure, clearances, etc.) for the purpose of complying with all accrediting agencies such as Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, ACEN, etc. 19. Lead and participate in a variety of meetings (e.g. faculty, training, nursing organizational, etc) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform successfully. 20. Report incidents (e.g. fights, theft, suspected abuse, suspected substance abuse, unsafe conditions etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to policies. 21. Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. 22. Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. This may not be a complete itemization of all facets of this position. KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS: SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; age-appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; and behavioral management strategies. ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting tact and patience; and working flexible hours. Education Required: Bachelor's degree in nursing; Master's degree preferred. Certification Required: Current Pennsylvania RN License required Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in nursing education Other Qualifications: This program is an evening and weekend program. The position requires someone who is available to work at these times.
