KANSAS CITY MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description Job Title: ELL Paraprofessional Job Title Code: 335 Salary Grade Z02S-Z06S starting at $17.59 Reports To: Building Administrator, Language Services FLSA Status: Non-exempt Position Summary: To work with classroom teachers to provide support in academic areas for English Language Learners.. Work with students to comprehend and demonstrate achievement.. What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities) Other duties may be assigned.
• Work with teachers in team teaching, team planning, and daily routines.
• Provide instructional and language support for Ell high school students
• Understand, support and be able to assist in implementing and communicating ELL goals and objectives.
• Assist in preparing classroom materials for Ell students
• Work cooperatively with teachers, students, parents and school administration.
• Accompany teacher on home visits and assist in establishing support with families.
• Participate on program planning committees, and parent involvement activities.
• Attend orientation and in-service training sessions providing interpretation as able.
• Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in languages
• Instruct children in practice of personal cleanliness and self-care.
• Support the staff with phone call in the parents home language in reference to school concerns.
• Facilitate communication between school, students, teachers and administration.
• Assist with Access screening and testing of English Language Learners.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications)
• 60 college hours with a grade point average of at least 2.5
• Fluent in English domains, read, write, listen and speaking
• Fluent in Spanish

• Three (3) years successful experience working with students and their parents
• Course work in education
Physical Demands: This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. The job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Length of work year: In person, 10 months, 5 days per week, 8.5 hours per day Benefits: Health and Dental Insurance are provided.
