About this role

Job Title: Administrator-in-Residence Reports to: Campus Principal Dept./School: Assigned Campus Exemption Status: Exempt / 187 days Date Revised: 8/13/2026 Salary calculations will be commensurate with job experience.

Primary Purpose: To develop leadership skills through serving on the campus leadership team and building educator capacity. Assist the campus principal in the overall administration of instructional programs and campus level operations. Assist with assigned student activities and services.

Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Master's degree or current enrollment in program leading to Master's degree and full administrator certification Valid Texas teaching certification Certified T-TESS Appraiser (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Experience in building, leading, and developing teams of teachers Knowledge of curriculum and instruction, state assessment objectives, and best practices for classroom instruction and behavior management Adept at thinking strategically, exercising professional judgment, and making sound decisions in high-stress situations Ability to work effectively toward shared goals with a wide range of stakeholders, including principals, teachers, school support staff, students and their families Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and limited direction Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills

Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher Two (2) years of experience in an instructional/teacher leadership role

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Assist principal with building instructional program, which ensures that each student is achieving to potential. 2. Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs. 3. Work with at-risk and special needs committees to ensure best instructional plans for atrisk and special needs students. 4. Promote a positive, caring climate for learning. 5. Deal sensitively and fairly with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. 6. Communicate effectively with students and staff. 7. Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and any community members. 8. Assist the principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain and record to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators. 9. Communicate and support expectations that are consistent with district and campus objectives. 10. Assist in the evaluation of school personnel. 11. Attend scheduled district meetings as appropriate. 12. Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods and assist with supervision of all school activities. 13. Work with teachers, counselors and principal in maintaining a program for student discipline/citizenship. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable. 14. Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior. 15. Take the initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments. 16. Continue to pursue leadership opportunities that will enhance decision making, strengthen communication and interpersonal skills. 17. Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff. 18. Assist in the monitoring of student attendance and work with the principal and attendance clerk on follow-up investigations. 19. Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to examine program/service effectiveness. 20. Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers. 21. Participate in community activities that foster rapport and mutual respect between the district and the larger community. 22. Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities. 23. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. 24. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. 25. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel, and others as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and related technology and software Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; prolonged use of computer terminal possible. Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide and statewide travel Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours. Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), coordinate district-wide curriculum functions; interpret policy, procedures and data.
