** This posiiton is for SY2026-2027 Job Title: Restorative Justice TOSA Job Summary: The position of Restorative Justice TOSA is done for the purpose of supporting administrators and staff in the implementation of restorative justice practices, including providing direct restorative services to staff, students & families, and providing coaching and technical support to school staff in the successful implementation and practice of restorative justice. Essential Job Functions: Due to the specialized responsibilities of this position, while the teacher is accountable for success in all essential job functions of a regular classroom teacher, the primary essential functions for this position are:
• Inform and prepare participants for restorative circles and/or dialogues
• Contact parents/guardians to invite or inform about restorative meetings
• Facilitate restorative processes
• Coordinate the delivery of restorative circles to classrooms as requested by school staff
• Provide participants, parents and appropriate staff with agreements/outcomes of restorative processes
• Follow up on all restorative meetings to ensure agreements are upheld
• Coordinate restorative community service opportunities
• Model restorative classroom & discipline processes
• Provide consultation, coaching & technical support around implementation of restorative practices
• Work with school teams to build and strengthen current practices
• Work with SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) School Coordinator to implement restorative practices in after school programming
• Work with school staff to analyze data to identify racial and other disparities and collaboratively work to develop improvement plans to interrupt disproportionate discipline practices
• Provide Restorative Justice updates and professional development at school meetings
• Work with families to support student success and promote greater engagement of families in the school
Other Job Functions:
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
• Maintain prompt and regular attendance
Qualifications:
• Theoretical and practical understanding of restorative justice processes within a school system
• Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
Experience Required:
• Minimum 5 years' successful classroom teaching
• Demonstrated experience & success working with diverse and underrepresented individuals & communities
• Demonstrated personal & professional commitment to equity & inclusion
Experience Preferred:
• Experience with student de-escalation strategies, conflict resolution, and restorative practices;
• Peer coaching and group facilitation;
• Planning and leading professional development
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills to: communicate and utilize interpersonal skills effectively in person, in writing, and over the telephone; develop and deliver presentations effectively; effectively multi-task to establish and shift priorities in a dynamic and high stress environment with frequent interruptions; motivate students and staff, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, work collaboratively with various groups within the school and in the community. Knowledge of: equity issues in current education reform; restorative justice and restorative practices and how to incorporate them in a middle school educational environment; student privacy regulations as they relate to releasing student information. Abilities to: proficiently utilize computers and software applications including, but not limited to the Synergy, MS Office (Word, Excel) and other software applications as necessary for the position; facilitate difficult conversations with both youth & adults; develop and implement short and long-range goals; work with minimal supervision to problem solve and find solutions both independently and as an effective member of a work team; manage collaboration with a wide range of individuals & entities; speak/present comfortably and effectively in large and small groups; handle multiple priorities and complete tasks/projects in accordance with stated deadlines; work with a high level of attention to detail; work under pressure and effectively diffuse crisis situations; work through conflict with co-workers & volunteers; maintain confidentiality; keep and maintain accurate records, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position. Significant Physical Abilities include: abilities to stand/walk/sit for extended periods of time; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds in weight in a safe manner; pushing/pulling balancing, stooping, reaching/handling/manual dexterity, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds (potential hazards), visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation. Education, Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
• Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal background check clearance
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Oregon driver's license
• Valid Oregon teaching license and approriate endorsement for appropriate level of instruction and/or subjects
