ROUTING & OFFICE SPECIALIST - TRANSPORTATION Location: ELSC Required Education Level: GED or High School diploma Employment Date: ASAP or as arranged Classification: Meet & Confer - 12 months Minimum Requirements:

• Supervise Transportation secretary staff, including schedules and work assignments, with input and assistance from department leadership. • Escalate issues requiring discipline to leadership. • Oversee the general operation of the office, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment for all office staff. • Monitor and manage inventory of office supplies and equipment. Anticipate needs and communicate orders for resupply. • Maintain a cooperative attitude and build rapport with students, peers, supervisors, parents, school personnel, and the community • Enthusiastically curious • Motivated to ask questions • Proficiency with standard computer operating systems and software • Willingness to learn new skills and unfamiliar systems • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and adapt to continuous interruptions while maintaining professionalism, detail, and accuracy • Effective, efficient, and proactive oral and written communication skills • Self-motivated; ability to identify areas of improvement and work independently toward their solutions • Ability to adjust work hours to meet the needs of the district • Coachable and willing to constantly adapt to change • Represent the district in a professional manner • Strong team player • Commitment to district and department mission statement Principal Duties:

• Identify, address, and resolve any routing request, complaint, concern, or inefficiency; escalate when appropriate • Prepares and maintains student routes • Develop an in depth understanding of Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities' roadways and traffic patterns; apply this knowledge to the development of safe and efficient bus stops and routes • Implement informed routing decisions through the collection, analysis and interpretation of available data • Ensure specialized student transportation needs are fulfilled; pursue and maintain current knowledge of all student requirements (e.g. Individualized Education Plans, Medical Protocols) • Ensure all routing decisions are in accordance with current district, state, and federal requirements • Accurately complete reports and paperwork in a timely manner • Assist daily with dispatching duties • Work as a team member on various projects • Answer telephone and appropriately handle requests • Communicate with staff and parents • Maintain confidential information • Assist other team members, as assigned • Other duties as assigned Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus and working with computers, written materials, reports, etc. Working Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderately quiet to moderately loud. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. workday.
