Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join the Renal Ward at New Cross Hospital.
The successful applicant will work alongside registered nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The role involves supporting patient assessment, monitoring and management, assisting with a range of clinical and therapeutic procedures, and contributing to the delivery of safe and effective care throughout the patient journey.
Main duties of the job
Provide high-quality, compassionate, person-centered care to patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or healthcare professional. Assist in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of individualized patient care, following Trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines. Support patients with their personal, physical and emotional care needs, ensuring dignity, privacy and respect are maintained at all times. Obtain and respect patient consent before delivering any aspect of care and involve relatives and carers appropriately in the care process. Undertake delegated clinical duties within the scope of your competence and training, escalating concerns when required. Accurately document care provided and promptly communicate relevant observations and information to the registered practitioner responsible for the patient's care. Perform routine clinical tasks such as urinalysis and specimen collection, accurately recording and reporting results in accordance with local procedures. Ensure specimens are transported safely and promptly to the appropriate department. Use safe moving and handling techniques and equipment in line with Trust policies to protect both patients and staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience Care Certificate or ability to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment Level 2 Maths and English qualification

Experience in a healthcare environment Able to undertake a limited range of delegated clinical care duties, e.g temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, blood glucose monitoring, urinalysis, wound observations, removal cannula/catheter Able to use and update IT systems with patient information
