An exciting opportunity has come up for the Night Nursing Service for Band 6 Community Nurse to work across the Richmond area. The service operates from 7am until 7pm . The shifts are from 1900-0700

As a senior community nurse you will assist the Community Team Manager in the management of a designated caseload, ensuring that holistic assessments are undertaken by a competent practitioner within the nursing team.

**UK driving licence required.**Access to a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driving licence are essential requirements for this role.

Main duties of the job

To support the Night Nursing Team Manager in the delivery of the locality nursing service in line with the commissioned service specification, standards, activity and outcomes, in the context of multi-disciplinary locality working.

Assisting the Night Nursing Team Manager to provide line management and leadership for the community nursing team, being accountable for the team caseload and the development of a skilled, competent and motivated workforce, able to meet the needs of the patients on the caseload

Take a lead for a specific area of nursing practice, as a delegated responsibility, to ensure that less experienced nurses have access to best practice knowledge and expertise to inform and support their clinical practice.

Deputise in the absence of the Night Nursing Team Manager , and undertake delegated tasks as development opportunities for succession planning.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Qualified RGN (Registered General Nurse - Adult) with current registration with NMC - Part1 and Relevant post registration study at diploma/degree level and relevant CPD e.g. palliative care, tissue viability

Desirable

Nurse Prescriber V150 (willing to undertake) and Mentorship Preceptorship or equivalent ( (willing to undertake) Specialist Practice Teacher/ Teaching Qualification

Knowledge Essential

Understanding of the impact of mental health conditions, including dementia and depression, on the management of medical and long-term conditions, together with knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards, including the principles of risk assessment and risk management.

Desirable

Understanding of both the Health and Social Care agenda

Skills Essential

Ability to manage the day to day running of the team, use initiative and delegate tasks to appropriately trained staff Ability to lead by example, demonstrating consistent and fair clinical and managerial leadership while working effectively under pressure, balancing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines. Core clinical skills medicines management including IV, venepuncture, continence, chronic disease management, palliative care, wound management

Personal Essential

Ability to travel to multiple sites; car driver

Experience Essential

Experience in assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating patients in their own homes Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, with the ability to solve problems and provide support to colleagues.

Desirable

Experience of managing resources within budget and undertaking audit and evaluation to support service improvement.
