Job SummaryYou will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Command Navy Region of NAVSTA.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyze data on work operations, mishaps, and safety practices to prepare reports of findings that propose corrective measures for unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices; 2) Investigate mishaps, hazard reports, and unsafe or unhealthful working conditions to protect personnel and property; 3) Advise personnel of safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes; and 4) Conduct safety and occupational health inspections and surveys to evaluate effectiveness of unit safety program. Major DutiesYou will identify mishap causes and hazards to implement remedial measures.You will make recommendations to managers concerning safety program requirements, policies, and improvements to reduce mishap occurrences.You will maintain the safety of employees using knowledge of occupational safety and health policies, directives, regulations, protocols and requirements.You will conduct follow up inspections to determine that all unsafe conditions have been corrected.You will talk with safety and occupational health specialists and other commands to identify hazards related to new equipment.You will compose letters and special reports regarding safety and occupational health issues.You will implement explosives safety regulations and procedures to minimize potential safety hazards.
