Job SummaryThis position is Employee Education Training Specialist that resides in the Center for Education and Development (CED). Duties include the administration of educational and staff development programs to enhance existing skills and promote the development of employees of VA Puget Sound Health Care Systems ( VASHCS)

QualificationsTo qualify for GS-9 you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level of GS-7 in Federal service. Specialized experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. OR Possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Possess a Combinations of successfully completed post-post bachelors degree and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade level. To be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-9. Major Duties***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties include but not limited to: Using adult learning principles, as trainer/instructor for education covering diverse topics such as leadership development, supervisory skills training, effective communication, critical thinking, conflict management and prevention and management of disruptive behavior. Develops and records methodology for training programs Continually reviews and Implements changes based on policies and federal regulations. Provides advisory services to managers and supervisors to properly plan training needs for employees Maintains library of course catalogs and course announcements Makes logistical arrangements for in house training, work with training vendors / instructors to determine audio- visual aids and obtains required equipment.
