Job Title: Construction Laborer Job DescriptionThis role involves working as part of a small crew to prepare dirt surfaces for concrete pouring on a large commercial construction site. You will perform hands-on tasks such as shoveling, raking, and operating a remote trench roller to smooth and compact dirt, ensuring the site is properly prepared for the next phase of construction. You will work outdoors on the ground in a fast-paced environment and must follow strict safety practices at all times.Responsibilities
• Work as part of a crew of 3–4 team members, including one equipment operator and 2–3 laborers, to complete dirt preparation tasks on the construction site. • Smooth and level dirt using shovels, rakes, and other general hand tools to prepare the site for horizontal concrete pouring. • Use a shovel to move dirt into low spots on the prep site, ensuring the ground is evenly filled and stable. • Use a rake to break up and smooth chunks of dirt and reduce high spots on the prep site to create a level surface. • Operate a remote trench roller or remote dirt compactor as directed, after receiving on-the-job training in its safe and effective use. Essential Skills
• Minimum of 1 year of previous construction labor experience. • Experience working in dirt environments such as landscaping, dirt production work, or ditch crew. • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods, including shoveling, raking, and moving materials. • Comfort working on the ground and in dirt throughout the entire project. • Basic proficiency using hand tools such as shovels and rakes for dirt preparation. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in general construction labor work. • Experience on large commercial construction job sites is beneficial. • Familiarity with dirt preparation processes for concrete pouring. • Ability to work effectively as part of a small crew and take direction from an equipment operator.
