Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Shift: 10:00am-6:00pm Mon-FriPay:Tier 3 Tech: $31.25/hrLocation: Gainesville, FL (32653)6 month contract-to-hire through AerotekJob DescriptionThe Diesel Mechanic III role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining semi-trucks and trailers, with a strong emphasis on diesel equipment. You will perform both preventative and reactive maintenance, complete DOT inspections, and accurately document all work performed using a digital work order system. This position offers hands-on technical work in a well-equipped shop environment, along with opportunities for training, certification support, and internal promotion.Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain semi-trucks and trailers with a focus on diesel equipment. • Perform approximately 80% of daily work on diesel equipment, including both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks. • Carry out trailer repairs such as wiring and repairing brake lights, replacing air brakes, changing tires, and repairing hydraulic systems. • Conduct DOT inspections on trucks and trailers and document findings clearly and accurately. • Replace components such as water pumps and AC systems as needed. • Use an iPad to retrieve work orders, log all repairs, and check out parts through the digital work order system. • Perform diesel engine preventative maintenance, including inspection, servicing, and adjustment of components. • Diagnose and repair issues involving air brakes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related systems. • Perform fleet maintenance to keep trucks and trailers in safe, reliable operating condition. • Carry out trailer maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. • Use welding equipment or torches when required for repairs and fabrication tasks, following appropriate safety procedures. • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all shop safety guidelines. • Communicate clearly with team members about equipment status, parts needs, and repair timelines. Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of diesel maintenance experience, including hands-on work with diesel engines. • At least 2 years of air brake repair experience. • Experience performing diesel engine preventative maintenance. • Experience with trailer repair and trailer maintenance. • Experience working with hydraulics in a maintenance or repair setting. • Experience with pneumatics and related systems on trucks and trailers. • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. • Ability to perform fleet maintenance on semi-trucks and trailers. • Ability to use digital tools such as an iPad to access work orders, log repairs, and manage parts. • Ability to perform basic welding or use torches for repair work when needed. • Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements and ability to document inspection results. • Solid understanding of diesel engines, air brake systems, and related components. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Hydraulic experience is considered a plus and will enhance effectiveness in this role. • Interest in pursuing ASE certifications, with support available for selected certifications. • Willingness to participate in in-house training programs to expand technical knowledge. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy shop environment. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation of work performed. Uniforms are provided and laundered weekly, and a designated changing room is available on site.
