About this role

Job Title: Material HandlerJob DescriptionThe 1st shift Material Handler verifies and records incoming and outgoing materials and products, moves materials between storage areas and production departments, and ensures accurate inventory control in stockroom and storage areas. This role receives, stores, and issues materials, compiles and maintains stock records, and supports production by routing and delivering parts and supplies to designated work areas.Responsibilities

• Verify incoming and outgoing materials and products and keep accurate records of all stock movements. • Route incoming items to the appropriate storage or work area in a timely and organized manner. • Store articles in bins, on the floor, or on shelves according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material. • Determine appropriate methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space. • Mark part numbers on articles and ensure all items are clearly labeled for easy identification. • Assign storage locations when required and update the computer system to reflect current stock positions. • Review and receive manufactured parts into the stockroom and accurately enter information into the computer system. • Move parts from one workstation to another in accordance with parts routing and production requirements. • Pick orders and issue supplies from stock, including pulling AMS orders from pick lists and components for job orders, and deliver them to designated areas. • Maintain and track shortages, ensuring that stock levels are monitored and communicated as needed. • Perform cycle count inventory of stock, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and compile and maintain related reports. • Maintain inventory and other stock records to support accurate and up-to-date documentation. • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, electric carts, hand trucks, and other industrial equipment to move materials and products safely between storage and work areas. • Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free work area. • Record daily attendance and production information in the timekeeping system as required. • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance to support production and stockroom operations. • Support shipping and receiving activities, including handling incoming and outgoing materials as needed. Essential Skills

• Experience with shipping and receiving operations in a stockroom or warehouse environment. • Proficiency in performing inventory counts, cycle counts, and maintaining accurate stock records. • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other industrial material-handling equipment safely. • Ability to use a computer terminal and personal computer to input and update information in the inventory and timekeeping systems. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to read and use a standard tape measure accurately. • Experience picking orders from pick lists and issuing components for job orders. • Ability to work in a stockroom environment handling materials, parts, and products throughout the day. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a stockroom or warehouse setting with responsibilities for material handling and order picking. • Familiarity with cycle count processes and resolving inventory discrepancies. • Comfort using printers, copiers, and related office equipment to support documentation and recordkeeping. • Basic understanding of inventory management practices and stock location methods. • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple orders and stock movements efficiently. During summer months, fans are used and doors can be opened to increase airflow, and cold drinks and frozen treats are provided to help keep employees comfortable. The role is on first shift, with a training schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. After training, start times can be flexible based on preference, such as 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The work involves regular use of computers, printers, copiers, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other industrial equipment in a stockroom and production environment, with an emphasis on safety and maintaining a clean, orderly workspace. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
