Job Title: CNC MachinistJob DescriptionThe 2nd shift CNC Machinist operates and adjusts CNC mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machining centers to produce precision parts in a highly automated, aerospace-focused environment. This role works with robotic systems for material handling and automated loading/unloading, performs tool changes and offsets, conducts in‑process inspections, and supports preventative maintenance while following strict safety and AS9100 quality standards. Enjoy a four day work week Monday-Thursday and need to be flexible with working OT on Fridays when needed. Responsibilities

• Operate and adjust CNC mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machining centers to produce precision parts to specification. • Set up, run, and monitor CNC machines to maintain tight tolerances suitable for aerospace and other precision applications. • Work with robotic systems and robotic arms for material handling, automated loading/unloading, and part transfer between machines. • Perform tool changes, offsets, and changeovers to ensure consistent part quality and efficient production. • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CNC machines, robotics, and automation systems to minimize downtime. • Monitor and maintain automated production cells, ensuring efficient workflow and reliable machine tending. • Conduct in‑process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances. • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings to set up and run jobs correctly. • Document machine settings, process parameters, process improvements, and production logs accurately and consistently. • Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines and robotic systems to maintain optimal performance and reliability. • Follow all safety protocols and quality standards, including compliance with AS9100 requirements. • Collaborate with team members to support continuous improvement in machining processes and automation. • Maintain a clean and organized work area and contribute to a safe and efficient production environment. Essential Skills

• Proficiency in CNC machine operation, including mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machining centers. • Hands‑on experience with CNC machine troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or control issues. • Ability to perform tool changes, offsets, and machine changeovers accurately and efficiently. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings. • Experience working to tight tolerances, preferably in aerospace or other precision manufacturing environments. • Competence in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for in‑process inspection. • Familiarity with AS9100 quality requirements and adherence to formal quality standards. • Experience with robotic arms for machine tending and automation in a production environment. • Strong understanding of machine operation in a high‑volume, automated cell environment. • Ability to follow established safety protocols and standard operating procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Understanding of G‑code and M‑code and basic machine programming is a plus. • Familiarity with PLC‑controlled automation systems is a plus. • Background in aerospace machining or precision manufacturing is highly beneficial. • Comfort working with both manual and automated inspection processes. • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to diagnose issues with CNC equipment and robotics. • Effective communication skills to work with production, engineering, and quality teams. • Willingness to work either first or second shift as needed by the operation. The site employs approximately 200 people across two shifts, with around 600 employees nationwide, offering a collaborative yet sizeable production environment. First shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with additional work available on Fridays as needed. Second shift runs from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with optional Friday work and a shift differential for working evenings and nights. The environment is focused on CNC machining, robotics, and automated production cells, following structured safety and quality procedures and supporting the use of appropriate safety footwear and prescription safety glasses. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.25/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
