JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform Fetal Ultrasound Exam or Fetal Echocardiogram - Obtain, review and bring together pertinent patient history, and supporting clinical data to facilitate diagnostic results. Provide interpreting physicians with an oral summary of diagnostic results. Prepare patient for examination by explaining the procedure. Differentiate artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognize limitations of the exam. Utilize 2D optimization and 3D manipulation techniques with ultrasound equipment to aid with producing high quality diagnostic information.

• Report and Analyze Exam Results - Provide the interpreting physician an oral summary of diagnostic findings. Analyze the data, provide a preliminary written report, and review results with reading faculty for final interpretation.

• Teamwork - Share knowledge and provide technical support for each team member. Additionally, assist with teaching Fellows, visitors and new departmental staff; and/or collaborate with Fetal radiologist, MFM physicians, and surgical teams to provide diagnostic imaging and guidance during fetal surgical procedures.

• Research - May participate in clinical research related to prenatal cardiovascular disease. Measure and analyze echocardiographic data for research projects. Prepare and present findings in selected forums; at cardiology, obstetrical, echocardiography and/or sonography meetings; at meetings of potential funding sources (such as industry and The American Heart Association); at meetings of non-experts interested in medical research (students and journalists). Prepare and present scientific reports (abstracts, manuscripts, and articles) and manuals. May lead research projects as the principal investigator, generating the proposal and protocol for IRB approval.

• Surgical Procedure Involvement – Assist with procedures both in clinical and operating rooms settings as needed, and for MFM sonographer, including on-call availability 24/7 for emergent obstetric procedures utilizing sterile technique.

Function as a professional sonographer and perform high level fetal or fetal echocardiographic examinations for medical diagnosis. To utilize extensive background of knowledge and expertise in pediatrics, fetal and fetal cardiac morphology and pathophysiology to function as an integral member of the health care team within the fetal radiology or cardiology department dedicated to the care of pregnant patients. Must acquire and maintain specialized skills and medical knowledge to render quality care.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate's Degree in a related field

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field

• 0+ years of work experience in a related job discipline

• Preferred: Fetal Sonography experience

• ARDMS certification in pediatric echocardiography or fetal echocardiography obtained during employment
