Job Description: This is an overview of what a typical day will involve as a Traffic Manager at BAE Systems Kingsport location. You will manage direct reports that are responsible for planning, scheduling, and routing internal material movements, inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight, using knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs, and company policy. Your team will schedule carriers, reconcile freight bills, prepare and negotiate claims, and select or recommend carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and least expensive movement of goods and material. Conduct research on transportation methods, rates, and routes. Additionally, this role oversees material schedulers who will be responsible for internal material movement. The skills listed below are required to perform these job duties. • Must be adaptive to change in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and problem-solving skills. • A highly detailed and motivated leader. • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Word as well as other internal software programs. • Prepare and maintain yearly budget for assigned area. • Track employee performance through our PDR system and administer diciplinary action, as needed. • Perform weekly safety SLAM audits and enter into the database. • Administer annual Ethics training and track that iLearn is up to date for direct reports. • Approve time for direct reports per company policy. • Adjust schedules of direct reports to meet business needs. • Approve PTO requests as needed. • Candidate is required to maintain Ammo 62 Certification. • Maintain all procedures assigned to Traffic. This includes 5 year reviews and changes made through the MOC system. • Be a mentor/coach to new hires and current team members while leading by example. • Ensure that the Traffic team collaborates well with members of management, R&D, Sales and Marketing, Export, Planning/Scheduling, Manufacturing and Material Handling teams to meet customer delivery dates. • Manage all incoming and outgoing shipments according to internal and external policies and procedures. • Monitor freight charges, payments, invoices, quotes and orders to better assist in the approval process. • Investigate and act on cost saving initiatives related to transportation expenditures. • Participate in audits from various internal and external agencies as required. • Perform and manage monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the USG as required by PWS15. • Develop and maintain a great working relationship with external customers that involves transporting product to both domestic and international locations. • There could be a need to perform inspections of material prior to loading. These inspections could take place at various locations on site and will require use of PPE, specialized training along with other additional measures to protect from injury. • Although this is a salaried position, meeting deadlines could require work outside of the normal 80 hours per pay period. • Maintain staff headcount and act as the Hiring Manager when additional staff is required. • Other duties as determined by Department Manager and Director of Manufacturing.

Required Skills and Education: 6+ Years related work experience with Bachelor's Degree 8+ Years related work experience with Associate's Degree 10+ Years related work experience with High School Diploma Ammo 62 Certification
