Living Stone Ltd. is one of Atlantic Canada's leading custom countertop manufacturers, specializing in natural stone, quartz, porcelain, and solid surface products. We take pride in producing premium-quality countertops while continually investing in our people, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
We are currently looking for a *FastBack Edge Polisher Operator / Production Support* team member to join our production team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in producing quality finishes, and wants to build a long-term career in the countertop fabrication industry.
No previous FastBack experience? No problem. We are willing to train the right individual who has a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn.
*What You'll Do*
As part of our production team, you will:
* Operate our FastBack straight-line edge polishing machine. * Load, stage, and process countertop pieces efficiently and safely. * Set feed rates and polishing head pressure for various materials. * Change and maintain polishing wheels, abrasives, and pads. * Inspect finished edges for quality, consistency, and defects. * Handle natural stone, quartz, and porcelain safely throughout production. * Assist with hand polishing and general fabrication when required. * Perform daily cleaning, lubrication, and routine preventive maintenance. * Identify machine issues early and report them to supervision. * Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
*What We're Looking For*
The ideal candidate will have:
* A strong attention to detail and quality. * Good mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. * Ability to read a tape measure accurately. * Ability to interpret shop drawings and transportation paperwork. * Comfortable working around heavy materials and wet production environments. * Ability to lift repeatedly and remain on your feet throughout the shift. * Reliable attendance and a positive attitude. * Strong commitment to workplace safety. * A valid driver's license. Own transportation (*no public transit*)
*Preferred Qualifications (Assets)*
While not required, the following experience would be considered an asset:
* Stone countertop fabrication * Tile, millwork, or machine shop experience * Hand polishing using variable-speed grinders and diamond polishing pads * Forklift certification * Overhead crane experience * CNC machining or CAD/CAM experience * WHMIS certification * Silica awareness training
