Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Restaurant. Bistro. Pub. Tasks: Liaise between chefs and customers. Inspect dining rooms and other food and beverage serving areas. Advise on menu selections. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Answer customers' questions regarding menu items and preparation methods. Attend to seating arrangements for large groups. Greet customers. Perform opening and closing activities. Receive customers' reservations and assign tables. Receive payments from customers. Serve food and beverages. Present bills to customers and accept payment in cash, credit or debit cards, travellers cheques or room billings. Enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations. Describe menu items including daily specials for customers. Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs. Provide customer service. Take orders and relay to kitchen and bar staff.
