Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward thinking Occupational Therapist who can work flexibly. The post holder will join our LD-CAMHS team supporting children and young people with moderate to severe learning disability who are experiencing a range of mental health needs/ behaviours of concern, and their families.
We are particularly interested in practitioners who are experienced in assessing and identifying strategies to help support young people with their sensory profiles. In addition to providing Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions there will be an expectation that the post holder use evidence based mental health interventions and participate in the teams Challenging Behaviour Intervention to ensure variety and the ability to practice fully as a CAMHS practitioner.
The post holder will work with a dedicated and supportive multi-disciplinary team made up of nursing, psychiatry and psychology and will accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for assessing the mental and emotional health needs of children and young people referred to the Learning Disability CAMHS with complex problems, and for the development and implementation of therapeutic interventions and specialist programmes of care to address identified mental health needs in this client group.

The post holder will work within specialist Learning Disability CAMHS with a remit to assess and treat children and young people (up to their 18th birthday) with mental health needs who have been referred to the service and identified as having a learning disability.
To undertake mental health assessments of patients referred to Learning Disabilities CAMHS, with complex problems/needs, including those with a psychiatric diagnosis or with co-morbidity/dual diagnosis.
To provide evidence based care packages. To co-work with other members of the LD CAMHS to continue the development of the service, and in the development of care, including setting up and running groups appropriate for the client group. To liaise with other professional groups and co-work where indicated.

Degree and State Registered Occupational Therapist Has worked as a qualified OT within the designated service area Broad knowledge of current best practice in O.T. with reference to Learning Disabilities and CAMHS.
