Job summary
We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist to join an innovative and exciting Care Leavers Project. The successful candidate will be employed on a 2 year fixed-term TEWV contract for the duration of this pioneering initiative.
This role will support the enhancement and expansion of psychological support available to care leavers across North Yorkshire, building on existing provision while contributing to the development of new, co-produced and collaborative offers where appropriate.

Main duties of the job
Working under the supervision of qualified psychologists and alongside clinical leads and partner agencies, you will play an important role in supporting psychologically trauma-responsive leaving care services. You will become part of an established multi-agency network across PIPA, Children's Services and a wide range of partner organisations.
A key aspect of the role will be supporting care leavers to access appropriate services and resources. This will include helping young people navigate local support systems, identifying suitable pathways for care, promoting engagement, and supporting early intervention approaches that reduce the likelihood of difficulties escalating. The postholder will also assist young people to connect with community, voluntary and peer-support opportunities.
The Assistant Psychologist will contribute to service development by supporting the implementation and evaluation of new initiatives, group programmes and targeted interventions for specific groups of care leavers. They will assist in developing resources, gathering feedback from young people and professionals, and identifying opportunities to improve service accessibility and effectiveness.

The role will involve collecting and analysing outcome data, supporting audit and evaluation activity, preparing reports, and contributing to service monitoring requirements. The post holder will maintain high standards of safeguarding, confidentiality, clinical governance and risk management in all aspects of their work. Working in partnership with care leavers and their support networks, the Assistant Psychologist will promote co-production and participation, ensuring that the voices, experiences and priorities of young people are central to service development and delivery.

Qualifications Essential
Degree in psychology Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
Desirable
Post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
Experience Essential
Some experience of people using services in psychological, mental health and/or social care settings. This may include, for example, personal experience or supporting a family member to access services. Experience in discussing and responding to issues related to cultural diversity, intersectionality and inclusivity, including working with vulnerable groups (e.g. those for whom English is not their first language).
