Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Intensive Care Unit team at Whipps Cross Hospital as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse. We are looking for an experienced, motivated and compassionate Critical Care Nurse who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care while supporting the development of others within our multidisciplinary team.

Applicants must be a Registered Nurse with a live NMC registration and significant recent experience in Adult Critical Care. Completion of a recognised Critical Care course is essential, along with the ability to demonstrate advanced clinical decision-making, excellent communication skills and experience supporting the development of junior colleagues. A teaching and assessing qualification and previous experience in shift coordination are desirable.

Main duties of the job

As a senior member of the ICU team, you will provide expert clinical care to critically ill patients and their families, demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and leadership skills You will be responsible for coordinating the clinical shift, supporting patient flow, supervising junior staff and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care. You will also play a key role in teaching, mentoring and developing staff, contributing to service improvement initiatives and maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.

Person Specification

Qualifications and knowledge Essential

Registered Nurse or equivalent with live NMC registration ENB 100 or equivalent critical care course at academic level

Desirable

Recognized teaching and assessing qualification

Experience Essential

Must have worked in the critical care setting for at least six months within the last year Able to demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge Evidence of mentoring and development of staff Minimum three years critical care nursing experience.
