About this role

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join our team at Colchester Hospital in the Cancer & Diagnostics Clinical Delivery Group (CDG).

We are inviting applications for a full-time Locum Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in Breast Symptomatic and Screening Imaging. Previous NHS breast screening service experience is essential.

This is a 1 year fixed term post whilst the division review the specialty needs and recruit substantively.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

o Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standards of care

o Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines

o Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients and A&E

o Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary care

o Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team

Job description Job responsibilities

The post holder will:

Participate in Breast work (split between screening and symptomatic work)

Participate in the general radiology department and on call service can be discussed depending on breast sessions. (Currently 1 in 16).

Provide specialist breast radiological advice and services to users of the Breast service

Accept responsibility for compliance with ionising and radiation regulations, along with radiation protection supervisor and the radiation protection officers

Accept personal responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to him/her

Provide advice and information as required to clinical colleagues and other staff

Person Specification

Qulaifications Essential

GMC FRCR or equivalent Appropriate subspecialty training Experience in Cross Sectional Imaging and Breast MRI

Desirable

Completion of general and sub speciality Breast Screening and Symptomatic Radiology training or within 6 months of obtaining CCT by interview date

Experience Essential

Training in all aspects of diagnostic radiology, including Breast Screening and Symptomatic work. Experience of both in the UK including the NHS breast screening programme. Ability to supervise, perform and report techniques in chosen area of expertise
