Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint an outstanding Consultant Anaesthetistto join the Anaesthesia Department at North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH).
These appointments offer an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, supportive and forward-thinking department delivering high-quality anaesthetic care across a broad range of surgical specialties. The successful candidates will play a key role in supporting and developing our Ophthalmology Service, alongside contributing to elective, emergency and obstetric anaesthesia services.

The Anaesthesia Department provides comprehensive peri-operative care across a busy and modern theatre complex supporting a wide range of elective and emergency surgical activity.

Emergency and trauma anaesthesia General Surgery Trauma and Orthopaedics Urology Gynaecology Ophthalmology Obstetric Anaesthesia Intensive Care and High Dependency Services Peri-operative Assessment Regional Anaesthesia Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education NMUH provides a comprehensive 24-hour emergency anaesthetic service and supports a busy maternity unit with approximately 5,000 births annually.

Essential Specialist Requirement
Expertise in Ophthalmic Anaesthesia
Applicants must demonstrate substantial experience and competency in Ophthalmic Anaesthesia and be able to provide independent consultant-level anaesthetic care for ophthalmic surgical procedures from commencement in post.
The successful candidates will play a key role in supporting the continued development and expansion of ophthalmic surgical services at North Middlesex University Hospital.

Applicants must have:
Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise. FRCA or equivalent specialist qualification. Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia, or be within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. Experience in emergency and obstetric anaesthesia. Significant experience in ophthalmic anaesthetic practice. Evidence of participation in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement. Excellent communication and leadership skills. A strong commitment to multidisciplinary team working. Enthusiasm for education, teaching and professional development. A patient-centred approach to care.

Experience Essential
Broad experience in the full range of anaesthetic practice expected of a Consultant Anaesthetist Significant experience in peri-operative care of elective and emergency surgical patients. Experience of providing obstetric anaesthetic services including labour ward and emergency obstetric anaesthesia.
