Are you interested in gaining experience of working within a mental health psychological therapies team?
We have a great opportunity to be an integral part of a large Psychological Therapies Team as a full time Assistant Psychologist.
The psychological therapies team includes highly experienced, friendly, approachable psychological therapists from all modalities, who are all extremely compassionate about supporting patients with serious mental health problems and supporting other staff to gain this experience.
We provide regular monthly opportunities to contribute and participate in regular reflective practice meetings, team supervision, and training events.
You will be supported with regular supervision from a clinical psychologist and senior staff.
We have excellent links with the Oxford Centre for Psychological Health and Oxford Institute for Clinical Psychology Training, which is hosted by the Trust. We actively encourage innovation and research with opportunities for collaborations with the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry. We also collaborate with Oxford Brookes University, Buckinghamshire New University, and the University of Bath.
Please note, This role will be offered on a 12 month fixed term basis, due to a split in funding as well as upcoming changes which may impact the long term for this role.
Main duties of the job
We have a great opportunity to be an integral part of a large Psychological Therapies Team. This will include:
Opportunities to work with Psychologists and Psychotherapists with wide-ranging clinical expertise. Opportunities to gain direct experience of working with adults with mental health problems individually and in groups. Involvement of the service evaluation process for both Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire psychological therapy teams. This includes service development projects, producing service evaluation reports, including data from the collection and recording of patient questionnaires (PROMS). Presenting these at both counties staff meetings, providing an opportunity to work with staff from both teams Assisting senior clinical staff to deliver patient therapy groups and classes. Supporting senior clinical staff to triage new referrals and liaising with referrers, admin and patients with outcomes

Person Specification
Qualifications - Academic/Skills/Professional Essential
An upper second-class honours degree or higher in psychology. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. Maths/statistics A-level or equivalent.
Desirable
Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
Further Training or Job Related Aptitude and Skills Essential
High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive. An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities. High degree of organisational skills, ability to adjust priorities. Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively.
Experience Essential
Work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities. Experience of data entry and data analysis. Experience of using Microsoft packages and computer skills for databases or data analysis, especially Excel and SPSS for Windows.
Desirable
Experience of paid work in direct care provision. Experience of working with older people and or people with dementia
Personal Qualities Essential
An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines. An ability to interact with people with mental health problems and disabilities. Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals.
Desirable
An interest in working with people with mental health problems or other disabilities. A desire to explore a career in Professional Psychology.
