About this role

Job summary

As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services.

Patients may present with a wide range of mental health and psychological problems, including following an episode of self-injury, psychiatric emergency and as a consequence of physical illness. You will be expected to work with individuals experiencing psychosomatic disorders and a variety of psychological and adjustment issues resulting from physical illness.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to make autonomous decisions, based on an analysis of complex presenting problems, while utilising effective clinical judgments about the most appropriate treatment, discharge and follow-up options.

Providing a mental health consultation-liaison and advice service. Offering an assessment service to patients presenting with a range of mental health and psychological problems. Supervise and support the band 6 practitioners in the decision-making process of all service users referred to MHLT that the band 6 practitioner have completed an assessment with.

About us

In relation to service delivery, the successful candidate would also be expected to support the team lead and manager in the operational running of the service and further development of pathways of care. The role also involves undertaking some aspects of line management, as appropriate and delegated by the team supervisor/lead.

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse (Mental Health) - current NMC Registration. Or equivalent. Evidence of professional updating and development in the nursing care of patients in an acute or community setting. Diploma in Professional Studies (Nursing) - or equivalent.

Knowledge Essential

Significant post-registration mental health nursing experience is essential. Involvement in innovative nursing practice and multicultural nursing environments.

Experience Essential

Skills in assessing, planning and evaluating mental health nursing interventions. Skills in interacting therapeutically with distressed and / or disturbed individuals. Skills in individual nursing interventions.
