Main duties of the job As a Senior Delivery and Repair Technician, you will join our Wheelchair Service team, playing a vital role in helping people maintain their independence and quality of life. You will work both independently and with various healthcare professionals to deliver, collect, maintain, and repair wheelchairs and associated equipment for patients across Swindon, Wiltshire, and nearby areas. Your responsibilities include fault diagnosis, performing preventative maintenance, repairs in workshop and community settings, and providing training to patients and carers. The role requires excellent technical skills, strong organisational abilities, and a dedication to outstanding patient-focused service. You will also engage in stock management, workshop preparation, and participate in the emergency on-call rota. Managestockandequipmentinventories,includingorderingparts,maintainingstocklevels,assessingreturnedequipmentforreuseordisposal,andsupportingworkshopoperations. Maintainaccuraterecords,servicedocumentationandtechnicalreports,ensuringallworkiscompletedinaccordancewithservicestandards,infectionpreventionprotocolsandregulatoryrequirements. ParticipateintheDutyTechnicianandemergencyon-callrotas,prioritisingworkloadeffectivelywhiledeliveringaresponsive,high-qualityservicetopatientsandclinicalteams.Essential NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering, mechanical or technical discipline. Experience in maintenance, repair or service engineering. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently. Good understanding of health and safety and safe use of tools and equipment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and stock management systems. Ability to work under pressure, manage a varied workload and adapt to changing priorities. Experience working with the public, including lone working. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the service area. Physically able to undertake manual handling and workshop-based activities.Desirable Experience repairing and maintaining manual and powered wheelchairs. Knowledge of wheelchair diagnostics and programming systems such as Wizard and LiNX. Understanding of NHS wheelchair services and rehabilitation equipment.
