Senior Therapy Assistant - Band 3 - Respiratory Inpatients

You will be part of our inpatient physiotherapy team, supporting the work of the therapists and assisting in the management and co-ordination of patient equipment. This role involves working closely with patients in an inpatient setting under the guidance of a qualified therapist.
Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a therapy service, hospital, or care environment, however no professional qualifications are required and appropriate instruction and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job
There will be administrative tasks and record keeping to be maintained as part of this role.
This role requires good communication and interpersonal skills in addition to basic computer and email skills. You would be required to write directly into the medical notes (paper and/or electronic) and so a good standard of written work is essential. It is a busy but friendly working environment and you will need to be resilient, flexible and organised.
Your work will be directed and supervised by qualified therapists.
You will assist the qualified therapists in delivering an excellent therapy service to patients on the medical wards at Basildon Hospital.You will contribute to the assessment, education and treatment of patients both individually and in groups.
You will undertake general departmental duties such as cleaning, collation of statistical information and ordering equipment.
You will undertake clerical and administrative tasks as necessary to maintain the smooth running of the department.

Education Essential
Maths and English GCSE grade C and above (or equivalent) Good literacy demonstrated through minimal spelling and grammatical errors throughout application
Experience Essential
Experience of working with people in customer care service

Experience of working as Therapy assistant Experience of working in healthcare Experience of talking/providing education to groups
