Sister/Charge Nurse - 24 Hours, Band 6, Permanent
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 24 hour per week permanent Sister / Charge Nurse (Band 6) in the Discharge Lounge at Stepping Hill Hospital
You will be working with all the wards and departments in the hospital in order to facilitate patient flow and improve patient experience. The successful candidate will maintain patient safety whilst assisting nursing teams in the prompt and efficient transfer of patients to the discharge lounge and out of hospital.
You must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities within an area in an effective and efficient manner.
You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.
Main duties of the job
Key duties of the role will include:
To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area. To deliver direct patient care whilst, coordinating and overseeing nursing practice. To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty. To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver high quality care to their client group. To deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area. Proactively support in de-escalating site by facilitating flow and discharges from the wards To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. To answer Datix and Complaints to oversee the Off Duty

Education and Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse (RGN or equivalent) with valid NMC registration. Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
Desirable
Experience and understanding of patient flow and discharge coordination mentorship
Skills & Abilities Essential
Strong leadership and decision-making skills to manage patient risk and lead shifts. Excellent communication skills for liaising with patients, families, and outside agencies. Accurately maintain patient records Understanding of Clinical Governance and current NHS issues
Desirable
Previous experience specifically working at a Band 6 level (or equivalent) with clinical responsibilities. Experience completing audits and implementing change.
