We provide training and mentorship to help you gain competency in examinations that are not currently within your scope, allowing you to develop your skills with confidence.

We are ideally looking for someone HCPC registered or CSVS accredited, but very much welcome applications from those about to qualify on the STP in vascular science.
Your role will be based primarily at the Denmark Hill site but will require some cross site working.
Main duties of the job
The Vascular Lab at King's is one of the busiest in the uk but what better opportunity could there be to develop your skills in this environment. We perform a complete set of vascular ultrasound investigations including;
Transcranial imaging for the national paediatric sickle cell screening program Renal artery and transplant kidney Vascular access for dialysis fistula and mapping including for endo-AVF Specialist work for diabetic foot including pedal arterial and ultra-distal bypass graft surveillance Urgent scans for vasculitis such as GCA pathways All the usual scans such as peripheral arterial and venous and carotid. Although the department is busy the support required can be individually tailored to your existing experience so full training can be provided in areas not already within your scope, we always aim to ensure there is sufficient senior support available while encouraging independent practice. Furthermore there is a lot of scope for you to be actively involved in teaching and training as we have STP trainees, non STP trainees and a student from the Gloucester university undergraduate program.
We ensure all scientists have allocated time away from direct patient care to participate in audit and project work and we have had multiple projects presented at a variety of conferences. We also have a daily co-ordinator role which everyone participates in.

Job description Job responsibilities
To undertake, interpret and report ultrasound scans and other tests for vascular conditions, working at the level of a fully qualified clinical vascular technologist. They will operate autonomously with the support of senior staff within the service. To undertake specific roles in the day-to-day management of the department and will have specific duties within the service for which they will be expected to be responsible. To run vascular ultrasound clinics in other trusts and to assume responsibility for these where required. Contribute to ongoing quality improvement and audit projects within the department Contribute to the teaching and training of junior and trainee vascular scientists.
Person Specification
Education Essential
Batchelor degree of equivalent Accreditation with HCPC or CSVS (or nearing completion) Competency in standard vascular ultrasound scans
Desirable
Higher Degree Competency in advanced vascular ultrasound scans Accredited with BOTH CSVS and HCPC
Knowledge and experience Essential
Significant experience of performing and reporting vascular ultrasound
Desirable
Experience implementing audit/research projects Demonstrable post qualification experience Experience with teaching and training Experience presenting at meetings locally or nationally Experience attending and contributing to Multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT)
