Main duties of the job
The HCA will support GPs and Practice Nurses by carrying out a range of clinical duties, including health checks, recording patient observations, venepuncture, ECGs (where trained), supporting chronic disease management, and maintaining accurate patient records. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering outstanding patient care within a supportive primary care environment.

Clifton House Medical Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and caring Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our dedicated primary care team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the health and wellbeing of our local community.
Working closely with GPs, Practice Nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in assisting with clinical duties, promoting health, and ensuring patients receive a professional and compassionate service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Clinical Duties
Undertaking new patient health checks. Measuring and recording blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, and BMI. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols. Carrying out ECGs where trained and competent. Undertaking vaccinations Supporting chronic disease management clinics. Conducting NHS Health Checks. Assisting with wound care and dressings under supervision. Taking and recording patient observations accurately. Preparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipment. Ensuring clinical stock levels are maintained and appropriately stored. Observing the Practice health and safety and infection control policies, whilst being vigilant to potential hazards and to bring them to the attention of the Practice Manager immediately.Patient Care
Providing care in a professional, empathetic, and respectful manner. Supporting patients to improve and maintain their health and wellbeing. Promoting healthy lifestyle choices and preventive healthcare. Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Chaperoning clinicians when required. Administrative Responsibilities
Accurately recording consultations and activities within the clinical system. Processing and handling specimens in accordance with procedures. Maintaining accurate patient records. Adhering to infection prevention and control procedures and health and safety regulations.Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.How to Apply

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
Desirable
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
Experience Essential
Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting. Experience of taking clinical observations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Good IT and record-keeping skills. Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements. A caring, professional, and patient-centred approach.
Desirable
Experience working within a GP Practice or Primary Care setting. Venepuncture competency. ECG competency. Experience undertaking NHS Health Checks. Knowledge of chronic disease monitoring. Proficient in clinical IT systems such as SystmOne (preferred). Immunisations
