The Psychological Health team at the NRC undertakes highly specialist assessment, formulation, and intervention, with patients with musculoskeletal and/or brain injury. You will work with the whole range of conditions, according to service needs. This post will suit someone for whom neuropsychology is part of a broader interest in recovery and rehabilitation. This post is entirely based at the NRC, but organisationally it sits within the Department of Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This means that there are excellent opportunities for professional support, CPD and networking.

Main duties of the job
You will provide highly specialist Clinical Psychology assessment, intervention and advice, working directly with patients and their family. You will also work indirectly, providing advice to other NRC staff in order to meet the psychological needs of patients.
You will contribute to the teaching and training of NRC staff in order to develop their skills and knowledge, in meeting psychological need.
You will provide direction and clinical supervision to Assistant Psychologists within the team, and may be the primary supervisor for a trainee Clinical Psychologist on placement with us.
You will contribute to the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of the service.
You will contribute to, lead and/or supervise research activities

Job description Job responsibilities
You will be a member of the Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology team, in NUH neurorehabilitation services primarily, and/or other specialisms as directed by the Head of Department. In the first instance this will be at the Linden Lodge Unit City Hospital, then move to the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) Loughborough during the summer of 2025.
Your role is to provide highly specialist clinical psychology and neuropsychological assessment, intervention and advice, on the basis of advanced theoretical and practical knowledge, acquired through doctoral level qualification. This clinical activity will be direct to patients and/or their family, or working indirectly, to advise other staff (individually or as a group) how to manage highly complex cases. You will have patients allocated to you, and you will be responsible for managing their psychological needs, act independently, and be accountable for your professional actions.
Your work will be with rehabilitation patients with various conditions, including brain injury and musculoskeletal injury.
You will contribute to the teaching and training of staff within the multidisciplinary team, supervision of trainee Clinical Psychologists, and other students who are on work placement with the team. You will supervise the clinical work of Assistant Psychologist(s) within the service, in their work with your patients, and/or be their primary clinical supervisor. However, this post does not have any budgetary or line management responsibility
In collaboration with the lead for the psychology rehabilitation team, you will contribute to the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of the service. This will involve interpreting national guidelines and local policy. You will participate in clinical governance activities.
You will contribute to, lead and/or supervise research activities, under the research programme of the Clinical and Neuropsychology team, as directed by the lead of the team.
You will generally work core hours (either 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm), during which you will be expected to be on-site. Working days to be negotiated and agreed.
As an NUH staff member, you may be asked to assist in the event of a Major Incident.

Person Specification
Training and Qualifications Essential
BPS accredited doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
Desirable
Further training in a highly specialised psychological therapy or assessment methodology
Experience Essential
Worked with a wide diversity of patients in terms of health condition, cognitive ability, age, ethnic and social groups. Worked in a range of health settings, including an NHS hospital. Worked within a multi-disciplinary team.
