Band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant (Orthopaedic Trauma Unit)

The Orthopaedic Trauma Unit is looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals to join our friendly, professional and successful team as Healthcare Assistants.
We are able to offer opportunities for development with weekly ward teaching covering a range of topics.
We also offer the opportunity to undertake additional roles within the ward, such as link nurse roles, which will be supported with additional training.
We are looking for candidates with a desire to provide compassionate support and care, good communication skills, a flexible approach and enthusiasm to work within the team.

Please Note: This role requires full-time working (37.5 hours per week) on a rota basis covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

What youll be doing:
As a Healthcare Assistant, youll play a vital role in delivering highquality care under the supervision of Registered Practitioners. Your responsibilities will include:
Always acting in the patients best interests.
Supporting patients with dignity, compassion and respect.
Providing personalised care to people from all backgrounds.
Noticing and reporting any changes in a patients condition.
Learning and performing clinical skills once trained, such as venepuncture and cannulation.
Offering enhanced support to patients who need closer supervision.
Guiding and supporting junior or less experienced colleagues.

Person Specification
Education Essential
Successful completion of Trust's Band 2 Developmental Passport or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of competence
Desirable
NVQ / QCF level 3 in Health or Health and Social Care
Skills Essential
Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and effectively Demonstrates an empathetic, caring and sensitive approach to patients, relatives and carers
Desirable
Venepuncture/ ECG/ cannulation/ Theatre escort training
Experience Essential
Experience as Healthcare Assistant within an acute hospital environment or equivalent setting
