The Radiopharmacy Department at Barts Health is entering an exciting phase of growth and development.
Working within Imaging Services, Radiopharmacy supports Nuclear Medicine bypreparing specialist radioactive medicines used for diagnosis and treatment. The department works closely with scientists, pharmacy technicians, technologists, physicists, and clinicians as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team.
We are a licensed MHRA Radiopharmacy providing radiopharmaceuticals across the Trust and toexternal hospitals. Our work includes aseptic preparation, clinical trials support, quality control testing, and maintaining safe and reliable supply chains
Main duties of the job
This post is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in healthcare science or pharmacy technical services. You will support the day-to-day operation of the Radiopharmacy Preparation Unit, helping to ensure the safe, timely production and supply ofradiopharmaceuticals. Key duties include:o Preparing equipment, consumables, and work areas for manufacturing activitieso Preparation of Radiopharmaceutical kits and quality control testingo Supporting stock control, receipting deliveries, and maintaining accurate recordso Cleaning, environmental monitoring, and routine quality checkso Supporting radiation monitoring and waste handling (full training provided)o Helping with the packing and dispatch of products to clinical areaso Completing documentation in line with local procedures and regulatory standardsAbout youPrevious Aseptic Production/Radiopharmacy experience is desirable - full training will be provided.We are looking for someone who:o Is keen to learn and develop new skillso Has good attention to detail and organisational abilityo Takes a careful, methodical approach to worko Enjoys working as part of a team in a clinical environmentThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist service at the forefront of nuclear medicine and gainvaluable experience within a supportive, forward-thinking department.If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services. or o Science Manufacturing Technician or o Scientific Degree (or equivalent)
Desirable
Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician. Pre and in process checking (PIPC/ACPT. ILM L3 in Leadership and management or equivalent qualification in management.
Experience Essential
Relevant experience within a GMP / aseptic facility or work as a pharmacy technician. or o Relevant experience working in a Radiopharmacy (involving the handling of radioactive materials).
Desirable
Experience of aseptic manufacturing operation for preparation of radiopharmaceuticals. Experience of using Radiopharmacy management software. Experience of handling radioactive materials
Knowledge Essential
Good manufacturing/aseptic preparation practices Demonstrated knowledge of COSHH and Health and Safety at work Able to work to Standard Operating Procedures
Desirable

Skills Essential
Ability to use initiative and work independently. Ability to work as part of a small team. Ability to prioritise own work. Demonstrates the ability to work under pressure and within agreed deadlines. s able to follow local manual handling procedures Is able to handle hazardous materials safely according to local procedures Is able to undertake the preparation of radiopharmaceutical medicines, involving repetitive manual dexterity and concentration. Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations Demonstrates ability to answer routine enquiries. ICT literate and able to use Microsoft office e.g., Microsoft Excel and word. Good verbal and written communication skills

Excellent aseptic technique and clean room behaviour. Ability to teach and coach staff.
