About this role

Compensation: $18/hr

Benefits: We have three comprehensive healthcare plans to choose from based on your priorities and budget. Housing Works covers most of the plan; you pay a portion, based on your salary. Staff begins accruing PTO immediately for a total of up to 30 days earned in the first year. We offer employees an educational benefit. Overview:

The Housing Works Emergency & Transitional Housing Program (ETH) provides time limited transitional housing and support services to individuals reentering the community following periods of incarceration or other justice system involvement. Program participants engage in a variety of onsite services, including case management, vocational training, housing advocacy and mental health support that address barriers to accessing housing in the community and help build skills that participants can use to achieve and maintain stable functioning in the community.

Reporting to the Senior Program Coordinator or Operations Manager, the Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the physical environment of the program space to promote optimal program functioning. This includes conducting minor repairs and maintenance, engaging in routine, through cleaning of office spaces, common areas participant rooms and assisting with the room turnover processes and ensuring the program site meets internal and external standards.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

• Utilize approved cleaning products in accordance with agency standards, practices and instructed use.

• Utilize appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) when necessary for spills or decontamination processes.

• Conduct thorough cleaning of common areas, staff offices and participant rooms (upon request).

• Sanitize surfaces regularly.

• Assist with the set up and removal of onsite food services.

• Empty trash bins, shredders and recycling bins throughout the day and sanitize containers weekly.

• Dusting, vacuuming and buffing of floors on a routine basis.

• Engage in cleaning activities specific to inclement weather events such as snow, rain and ice including shoveling, de-icing or mopping of wet areas.

• Clean up spills quickly as they occur and are reported.

• Complete room turnover activities in accordance with program standards.

• Assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention as needed.

• Actively participate in supervision.

• Complete special projects or tasks needed to improve the physical environment of the program space.

• All other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Secondary:

• Provide culturally competent services in accordance to Housing Works policies and practices.

• Promote Housing Works core values consistently.

• Ability to work with participants with diverse clients with varying levels of service needs.

• Engage in advocacy events as required and recommended by the agency and department

• Work collaboratively with other team members.

Other functions that may be required with this position include:

• Attend and participate staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.

• Responsiveness to emails, texts and phone calls.

• Ability to adapt and successfully uphold job functions in a full remote workforce or hybrid in-person remote workforce environment.

• Adhere to remote workforce policies, procedures and protocols.

Requirements:

• Ability to maintain a clean and healthy physical environment.

• Ability to utilize smart phone, Teams and Outlook email.

• Strong written documentation and communication skills

• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and with a team
