Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform welding operations on forging dies, tooling, and components using the specified welding process and procedures.
• Perform benching, grinding, blending, dressing, and finishing of welded areas and tooling surfaces.
• Prepare surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, removing contaminants, and preparing joints as required.
• Inspect completed work visually and identify defects, irregularities, or conditions that may affect quality.
• Use grinders and other power tools to remove excess weld material and achieve the required shape, finish, and fit.
• Set up and safely operate welding machines, grinders, hand tools, and other assigned shop equipment.
• Follow approved welding procedures, work instructions, drawings, and supervisor direction.
• Use proper lifting, positioning, and material-handling practices when handling tooling and components.
• Operate a forklift or other authorized material-handling equipment when trained, qualified, and assigned.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools, equipment, consumables, and materials.
• Inspect welding equipment, grinders, cords, hoses, guards, and other equipment before use and report unsafe or damaged equipment.
• Wear required PPE and follow company safety rules, hot-work requirements, and applicable health and environmental procedures.
• Communicate job status, quality concerns, equipment problems, material issues, and safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Assist coworkers and other shop personnel as needed to safely complete assigned work.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or management.
