About the Role
As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at AbbVie, you'll be a scientific expert and trusted partner to leading healthcare professionals, clinical investigators, and research institutions across Austria. This is a field-based role at the heart of our medical affairs function — where science, strategy, and relationships come together.
You'll represent AbbVie's scientific credibility in a strictly non-promotional capacity, engaging in meaningful dialogue about our approved medicines and pipeline compounds in rheumatology, and supporting clinical research across your territory.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and scientific institutions in rheumatologyDeliver credible scientific presentations on disease areas and AbbVie's pipelineSupport the identification and engagement of external experts for research collaborations, advisory boards, and scientific eventsFacilitate the initiation and conduct of AbbVie-sponsored clinical trials in partnership with clinical operations teamsGather and share field-based medical intelligence — including clinical practice trends, evidence gaps, and competitive landscape insightsAttend relevant scientific congresses and meetingsSupport physicians with named patient or compassionate use access requests where applicableEnsure all activities are conducted in full compliance with local laws, regulations, and AbbVie policies What We're Looking For
Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline strongly preferred; candidates with an undergraduate degree and strong relevant experience will also be consideredAt least 2 years' experience as an MSL, Clinical Research Associate, or similar field-based role in the pharmaceutical or medical sectorStrong knowledge of clinical research methodology and the pharmaceutical regulatory environmentExcellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships with healthcare professionalsAnalytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilityHigh standards of scientific integrity and complianceFluent English and GermanWhy AbbVie?

However, our attractive salary packages are based on current market salaries and are therefore significantly higher than the stated minimum salary.
