Human Resources Generalist

Reports To: School Director

Primary Function: The Human Resources Generalist leads all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, performance management, compensation support, and HR operations. This position also manages the school's substitute workforce, ensuring consistent staffing through recruitment, scheduling, performance management, and daily coverage coordination. The Human Resources Generalist partners with school leadership to provide guidance and support on human resources programs, policies, and employment practices while working closely with the Finance Director to support payroll, staffing, and organizational success.

Hours: M-F; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Start Date: Anticipated late August

Anticipated Salary: $65,000-$75,000

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Three or more years of progressive Human Resources experience.

• Working knowledge of federal and Colorado employment laws and HR best practices.

• Experience with recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, and HR compliance.

• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred

• PHR, SHRM-CP, or comparable HR certification.

• Experience in K–12 education, charter schools, or nonprofit organizations.

• Experience with BambooHR, ADP, Employee Navigator, or similar HRIS/payroll systems.

• Experience supporting compensation administration and HR reporting.

Core Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Employee Experience

• Lead full-cycle recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and orientation for all employees and substitutes.

• Develop strategies to attract, engage, and retain high-quality employees.

• Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and supervisors by providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns.

Benefits, Compliance & HR Operations

• Administer employee benefits, leave programs, HRIS, personnel records, and employment documentation.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, Colorado Department of Education, and school employment requirements.

• Maintain HR policies, handbook updates, licensure tracking, required reporting, and personnel records.

• Partner with the Finance Director on payroll administration, compensation, staffing, HR reporting, and workforce planning.

Leadership Support

• Partner with school leadership to provide guidance on HR best practices, employment law, employee development, and organizational effectiveness.

• Support employee engagement, retention initiatives, and a positive workplace culture.

• Monitor HR metrics and prepare reports and recommendations for school leadership and the Board of Directors.

Substitute Workforce Management

• Recruit, hire, onboard, schedule, and retain a high-quality substitute workforce.

• Coordinate substitute staffing and serve as the primary point of contact for substitute assignments, including responding to staffing needs outside regular business hours during the school year.

• Monitor substitute performance, training, compliance, and effectiveness while partnering with school administrators to ensure continuity of instruction.

Anticipated Salary and Benefits

The anticipated starting pay rate for this position is $65,000-$75,000 depending on experience and skill level.
