Saint John Energy is inviting applications for the role of "Human Resources Business Partner" until 11:00am on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

As a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will work closely with leaders across the organization to build high-performing teams, strengthen leadership capability, and foster an engaged, inclusive, and customer-focused culture.

The HRBP is a trusted advisor who partners with managers to align people strategies with business objectives. This role provides strategic and operational HR support throughout an employee's career while championing continuous improvement, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness.

Overview

Under the direction of the Vice-President of Finance, People and Community, the HR Business Partner will engage in various HR activities including leading all phases of the recruitment process, employee and leadership development, performance management, succession planning, policy development and review, and education and training.

The successful candidate will provide guidance to leaders in areas such as policy interpretation, and other circumstances that require HR leadership. They will provide support and backup to the Health and Safety Coordinator.

This position commands a high degree of autonomy, confidentiality, business decorum, and strategic business acumen.

Key Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with leaders across the organization and support them in the achievement of business objectives through effective people strategies.

• Partner with leaders on recruitment, succession planning, and workforce planning and development.

• Identify learning and development needs and coordinate solutions.

• Participate and lead performance review processes and compensation strategies.

• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and programs.

• Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and action planning.

• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and organizational policies.

• Coach leaders on performance management, employee development, and providing guidance on employee relations matters ensuring a fair, respectful, and consistent approach.

• Assist with conflict resolution and facilitating positive workplace relationships; conducting or supporting workplace investigations.

• Support leaders in managing attendance, accommodation, and return-to-work processes.

• Support organizational change management initiatives and participate in cross-functional projects supporting business priorities.

• Assist in the facilitation of culture building events and employee communications.

• Use data and HR metrics and reporting to support and recommend solutions that improve organizational performance.

• Provide support and to the Health, Safety, and Environment Coordinator in matters of Health and Safety.

Employment Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, a related field, or possess demonstrated equivalent experience.

• CPHR designation (or working toward designation) is preferred.

• Five to eight years of progressive HR experience, including experience supporting leaders as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist.

• Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.

• Experience coaching leaders and managing employee relations matters.

• Experience supporting organization change initiatives.

• Experience in labour management in a unionized environment would be considered an asset including negotiations, grievance arbitration, and administration of collective agreements.

The hourly wage rate for this job is in the range of $39.19 to $56.30 per hour dependent upon the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
