About this role
The Assistant Manager - Demand Planning will be responsible for managing the procurement process for frozen meat commodities internally and externally.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring timely deliveries, and optimizing the purchasing process to meet our quality standards and business objectives:
Main Functions:
Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Management:
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of frozen products, ensuring they align with our quality standards.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and conditions.
• Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and pricing, and address any issues that may arise.
• Conduct regular supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with international standards and certifications.
2.Procurement Process Optimization:
• Develop and implement efficient procurement strategies and processes for frozen products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations.
• Continuously monitor market trends, pricing, and availability of frozen products, and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement appropriate measures, such as bulk purchasing or alternative sourcing.
3.Contract Negotiation and Management:
• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
• Review and analyze contract terms, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor contract performance, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality specifications.
• Collaborate with legal and finance teams to resolve any contractual issues or disputes.
4. Quality Assurance:
• Collaborate with the quality control team to establish and maintain quality standards for frozen products.
• Address any quality-related issues with suppliers and implement corrective actions as necessary.
5. Inventory Management:
• Monitor inventory levels of frozen products, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet customer demand.
• Collaborate with production and sales teams to forecast demand and plan procurement accordingly.
6. Product Management:
• Produce product mix recommendations to support profit maximization (what to push, re-price, discount), supported by numbers and clear assumptions.
• Build business cases and scenarios for: pricing changes, promotions, new listings, supply constraints, and portfolio shifts.
7. General
• Conducting other duties reasonably assigned.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least five (5) years’ experience in a procurement / purchasing role.
• Knowledge of frozen products, including sourcing, quality control.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Familiarity with international standards and certifications related to food safety and quality.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and cultures.
• Familiarity with legal and contractual terms and conditions related to procurement.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
