About this role

Role Overview

Muybridge is building a new kind of camera: a long strip of camera sensors, where novel view synthesis generates a seamless virtual viewpoint anywhere along the segment, in real time. The core technology is proven and runs on live productions today.

This role is about connecting that technology to the world around it. You’ll design the external APIs that customers and partner systems integrate against, the backend services behind our applications, and the integrations that let our system work inside professional production environments. Broadcast environments are full of other equipment and standards. Our system has to speak to them clearly and reliably.

The backend is Rust, in production, and has been for years. You'll design APIs where clean and clearly defined is a requirement, not an aspiration. Security is part of the job: our systems are deployed in the field, integrated with customer infrastructure, and sold into markets with real security expectations and regulations. If you consider boundaries, contracts, and threat models part of good engineering, you'll fit in well.

The team's scope will grow over time, adding intelligence on the application layer. That is not the focus of this role today, but the APIs and services you build are what that future gets built on.

What We’re Looking For

You're a backend or systems engineer who takes pride in interfaces. You've built and operated production systems, and you know how to design for robustness, observability, and security.

Some guidelines on what we are looking for:

• Strong experience designing and building backend services and external-facing APIs

• Production experience with Rust, or solid experience with a comparable systems language (compiled, strongly typed, manual memory management: C, C++, Zig or similar) and a strong motivation to work in Rust

• Security-minded engineering: authentication, authorization, trust boundaries

• Solid grounding in networking and systems fundamentals. Our software runs close to real hardware, real networks, and real-time constraints

• A track record of writing robust, tested, production-grade code

• A collaborative mindset

• Willingness and motivation to travel internationally

A degree in computer science or a related field is valued but not required; practical experience counts just as much. You'll be working alongside engineers with backgrounds from top universities, industry, and research, and what matters day-to-day is the quality of your work.

Experience with one or more of the following is highly valued:

• API design at the contract level: versioning, documentation, developer experience for integrators

• Applied security: PKI, secure provisioning, code signing, or security architecture

• Integration work against industry protocols or third-party systems

• Linux systems engineering, containers, CI/CD

• Broadcast, media, or real-time systems

What Makes This Role Exciting

• The chance to help re-imagine the camera, with impact across industries — from video conferencing, content production, and sports to healthcare and industrial applications

• Exceptionally skilled and passionate colleagues who work shoulder-to-shoulder with you to solve the hard problems

• A flexible, creative work environment where your ideas carry weight

• Support for continuous learning — international conferences and room to explore new ideas

• The opportunity to travel internationally, working directly with customers across markets and industries

• A competitive compensation package

• Incentive programs for company ownership — a real stake in what we're building
