About this role

Our Profile

In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:

Geo-technician

The Geo-Technician – Level 1 supports mineral exploration activities by assisting with geological and geotechnical data collection, drill core handling, sampling programs, field mapping, survey support, and site logistics. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in remote exploration environments.

Key Responsibilities

Geotechnical Support

• Assist with drill core handling, transportation, and organization.

• Support geotechnical logging and measurements under the supervision of geologists or geotechnical personnel.

• Ensure proper storage and preservation of drill core.

• Geological and Sampling Activities

• Cut the core at the cut shack according to the SOP.

• Assist with core and rock sample collection, preparation, and dispatch.

• Support sample quality control procedures.

• Assist geologists during mapping, field exploration, and drilling programs.

• Field Operations

• Support drill programs and daily exploration activities.

• Assist with survey work, stake-out activities, and GPS data collection.

• Help maintain field camps, core sheds, and work areas.

• Health, Safety, Environment

• Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental procedures.

• Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and safety inspections.

• Promote safe work practices and environmental stewardship in all activities.

Qualifications/Skills and Experience

• Sound Secondary Education

Working Conditions

• The position is located at the Oko West mine site within an open-pit mining environment. The site is remote and situated in a warm, humid tropical rainforest. Accommodation is provided in a camp/village environment near the workplace. Some travel may be required for domestic and international project support.
