Our Profile
In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Sampler I
The Sampler I is responsible for the safe and efficient collection of representative samples in the mining production environment at the Oko West mine. This position works closely with the Mine Geology and Drill & Blast teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality samples that align with production, mining plans, and inventory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Health & Safety: Report to work physically fit and adhere to all safety procedures. Actively participate in daily pre-start meetings, lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and maintain good situational awareness in the mining environment.
• Operational Excellence: Demonstrate willingness to learn and effectively use various instruments, machines, and equipment to complete field services activities, including light vehicles and field analytical equipment.
• Production Sampling: Self-manage all sampling resources required for daily tasks, ensuring the collection of representative samples according to QAQC requirements. Work closely with the Drill & Blast team to ensure safe and effective blasthole sample collection and assist drillers where needed.
• QAQC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control): Adhere to the QAQC program as established by the Mine Geology Department. Demonstrate competence in fundamental QAQC concepts, including proper sample collection procedures and chain of custody practices.
• Collaboration & Communication: Maintain effective communication with the Sample Supervisor and other geological personnel to ensure smooth operations and support for sampling activities.
• Environment, Social, Governance: Follow procedures related to environmental sustainability, report environmental incidents, and support investigations as necessary.
• People Management: Treat all colleagues, business partners, and other stakeholders with respect, promoting a collaborative work environment. Participate in training and provide mentorship to junior team members.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
1+ year of experience in open pit mining and exploration is preferred.

• Secondary school certificate.
• Valid driver's license and relevant site-specific driving certifications.
• Strong desire and ability to learn technical concepts and adhere to technical procedures.
Working Conditions
• The position is located at the Oko West mine site within an open-pit mining environment. The site is remote and situated in a warm, humid tropical rainforest. Accommodation is provided in a camp/village environment near the workplace. Some travel may be required for domestic and international project support.

• Ability to read, understand, and complete field forms (e.g., inspections, JHAs, daily reports) and report any deviations to supervisors.
