About this role
Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of diesel-powered HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, trailers, and plant equipment. Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults efficiently. Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and safety checks to minimise vehicle downtime. Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards. Respond to vehicle breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs when required. Maintain accurate service records and complete all relevant maintenance documentation. Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and workshop procedures. Work collaboratively with drivers, fleet management, and workshop colleagues to maximise vehicle availability. Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with environmental standards. Requirements Qualified Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or equivalent trade certification. Previous experience maintaining HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, commercial fleets, or plant machinery. Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills. Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and braking systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Full, clean driving licence. A Category C or CE licence is an advantage but not essential. Strong commitment to health and safety and high-quality workmanship
