The role enables trauma surgeons and other specialists to focus on clinical decision-making by coordinating operational, administrative, and stakeholder activities across the trauma care continuum. The role also supports trauma governance, risk identification, escalation of system delays or operational concerns, and coordination of defined trauma-related activities during designated service hours. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Trauma Coordination & Patient Flow Management: Coordinate trauma activations, resource readiness, inter-facility transfers, and patient flow across EC, theatre, ICU and wards to ensure seamless, timely care delivery. Communication, Stakeholder & Client Experience Management: Act as the central communication hub between EMS, referring hospitals, internal teams, patients and families, ensuring clear updates, strong relationships, and a positive patient experience. Trauma Registry, Quality & Performance Improvement: Maintain trauma registry data, generate reports, coordinate M&M processes, and support quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities. Network Development, Training & Programme Support: Support stakeholder engagement, referral network development, training initiatives, and broader Trauma Programme activities to strengthen system capability and growth. REQUIRED EDUCATION ESSENTIAL EDUCATION Relevant healthcare qualification (e.g., Nursing, Emergency Care, Paramedicine, or Allied Health) DESIRED EDUCATION Trauma / Emergency Care certification, e.g. ITLS (advantageous), and training in quality improvement, data management, or healthcare systems would be advantageous REQUIRED EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 1–3 years’ experience in emergency, trauma, ICU, or pre-hospital environments 1-2 years’ Private Hospital experience Experience in care coordination, trauma systems, or high-acuity clinical environments Exposure to multidisciplinary healthcare teams and hospital operations Experience in multidisciplinary coordination, incident escalation, and/or quality improvement processes in an acute care environment Experience with clinical documentation review, data quality processes, and administrative support for meetings, audits, or performance review structures DESIRED EXPERIENCE Exposure to trauma registries, data capture, and basic reporting Exposure to trauma committee administration, accreditation or verification processes, and action tracking Exposure to referral network development and liaison with EMS, rehabilitation, social work, or external healthcare stakeholders REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Trauma & Emergency Care Processes Operational Coordination & Patient Flow Management Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Client & Family Experience Management Data Capture, Reporting & Trauma Registry Management Quality Improvement & Clinical Governance Support Computer Literacy (MS Office, dashboards, trauma registries, hospital systems) Crisis Management & Situational Awareness Training Coordination & Facilitation All applicants will be considered, with the understanding that preference will be given in accordance with the Employment Equity Plan of Mediclinic Southern Africa, as well as internal applicants/employees that meet the minimum requirements.
