As a Packaging Materials Intern at Nestlé Research, your mission is to investigate how an oxygen-scavenging coating can improve the long-term performance of packaging materials. You will make a difference by collaborating closely with packaging scientists, material specialists and laboratory experts. How you’ll make an impact as a Packaging Materials Intern Confirming the oxygen-scavenging action of an innovative coating used in packaging materials. Generating laboratory data on how temperature and humidity influence the oxygen-scavenging rate. Evaluating the scavenging capacity of the material to support reliable packaging performance over time. Building a model to simulate the evolution of oxygen transmission through coated packaging materials. Identifying potential scavenging mechanisms through analytical techniques such as fluorescence oxygen sensing, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy and oxygen transmission rate testing. What will make you successful Current student or fresh graduate in material science or a relevant field, and an interest in packaging materials, coatings and oxygen barrier performance. Being comfortable working in a laboratory environment, with a careful, curious and safety-conscious approach. Having an analytical mindset and, as a plus, previous exposure to fluorescence oxygen sensing, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy or oxygen transmission rate testing.
