• High School Diploma required • Associate or bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, digital media or a related field preferred • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, digital media, or a related field preferred. • Experience managing organizational social media accounts. • Experience with professional photography and videography. • Experience creating digital content for multiple platforms. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Professional writing and editing • Social media management and analytics • Photography composition and editing • Videography, video production, and editing • Graphic design principles • Branding and visual storytelling • Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign) or comparable design and editing software • Ability to capture and publish timely content during live events while maintaining professional quality and district brand standards. • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as district administration may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Summary: The District Communications Specialist supports the Georgetown County School District's communication and public engagement efforts by creating compelling multimedia content that highlights students, staff, schools, and district initiatives. This position is responsible for managing district social media platforms, capturing high-quality photography and videography, producing digital content, designing graphics, and assisting with strategic communication initiatives that strengthen the district's brand and community engagement. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong technical skills, excellent writing abilities, and experience producing engaging content across multiple communication platforms. Essential Duties: The essential functions include, but are not limited to: Digital Communications

• Assist in implementing the district's communications and marketing strategy. • Manage and maintain district social media accounts, including creating, scheduling, publishing, and monitoring content. • Develop engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other digital platforms. • Monitor social media trends and recommend innovative ways to increase engagement. Photography & Videography

• Capture professional-quality photographs and video at district and school events. • Produce short-form and long-form videos highlighting district programs, students, employees, and special events. • Edit video content for social media, websites, presentations, and promotional campaigns. Graphic Design

• Design graphics for social media, websites, newsletters, presentations, publications, advertising, and special projects. • Ensure all materials reflect district branding standards. • Assist with development of marketing materials for district initiatives and events. Communications Support

• Assist with media events, district programs, and community engagement activities. • Support crisis communication efforts as directed. • Provide communications support during evenings or weekends for special events as needed. • Assist in maintaining consistent district branding across all communication platforms. • Supervisor may assign other duties when needed.
